About me
John Lively is a born and raised Oregonian with over 60 years of public service. He’s a strong believer that community service is the best way to make a difference. He’s been a lifelong champion of labor, small business, the environment and education. John is proud of his bipartisan approach and the many different causes he’s engaged in.
· He was raised in Wallowa and moved to Springfield when he was a Junior in high school.
· He graduated from Thurston High School.
· He served in the Army Security Agency from 1968-1971
· He went to Lane Community College and then graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
· He served as a Springfield City Councilor and the Springfield Mayor from 1976-1986.
· He had a long successful career working in Economic Development.
Throughout his life he has served on numerous local boards and commissions such as:
· Lane Early Learning Alliance
· Strong Schools for Springfield
· The Cultural Trust Board
· Friends of Willamalane
He was elected to serve as State Representative in 2012. He has proudly been involved in supporting and passing a wide range of legislation including:
· Pay equity
· Increasing the minimum wage
· The Student Success Act
· Helping fund wildfire response and mitigation
He’s served on nearly every policy committee, but most recently served on:
· Chair of the Climate, Energy and Environment Committee
· Member of Economic Development and Small Business Committee
· Member of Joint Ways and Means Natural Resources subcommittee
He has been honored to serve as a State Representative for going on 14 years.
He is retiring and looks forward to spending more time with his wife Tresa and his grandchildren!
