About me
Brady B. Kent is a Tribal Affairs and clean energy engagement leader with more than a decade of experience advancing government-to-government consultation strategy and supporting infrastructure and natural resource initiatives across Washington State and the Northwest region. As a Yakama Nation Tribal member, his work focuses on strengthening partnerships between Tribal governments, utilities, federal agencies, and state leadership to support responsible project development that respects treaty-reserved rights and Tribal sovereignty.
Mr. Kent currently serves as a Tribal Energy Specialist with the Washington State Department of Commerce, where he led development of the agency’s Tribal Consultation Policy implementing RCW 43.376 and Executive Orders 21-02 and 25-05. In this role, he coordinates statewide Tribal engagement strategies affecting transmission planning, energy facility siting, and Climate Commitment Act implementation, and serves as a strategic advisor to agency leadership on consultation obligations and infrastructure decision-making affecting Tribal interests.
Previously, Mr. Kent served as a National Environmental Policy Act Project Manager with North Wind Resource Consultants supporting Bureau of Indian Affairs infrastructure actions across multiple western states. His work included environmental compliance coordination for the San Carlos Irrigation Project’s Power and Irrigation Divisions, where he supported NEPA documentation and wildlife permitting associated with federal water delivery and power generation infrastructure operations.
Earlier in his career with the Yakama Nation, Mr. Kent served as Agriculture Development Program Manager, where he advised Tribal leadership on treaty-reserved water rights strategy and represented Tribal priorities in basin-scale infrastructure and natural resource governance initiatives affecting more than 140,000 acres of Tribal lands. His work included coordination supporting inclusion of $75 million for the Wapato Irrigation Project in the John Dingell Act and participation in the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan implementation process addressing regional water supply, infrastructure modernization, and habitat restoration efforts.
Across his career, Mr. Kent has worked at the intersection of Tribal sovereignty, environmental review, and infrastructure planning, coordinating engagement among Tribal governments, utilities, irrigation districts, federal partners, and state agencies to support long-term stewardship and sustainable development across the Columbia Basin.
Mr. Kent is currently pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability at Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Space Science from the University of Washington College of the Environment.
