This four-hour course will review the critical requirements for the proper installation of PV systems by the Oregon Electrical Specialty Code (OESC), which is based on NEC. The course will focus on significant changes made in the 2023 NEC. Articles reviewed include 690 – PV Systems and 705 - Interconnected Electrical Power Production Sources. The course’s target audience includes Oregon State-Certified Electricians, electrical contractors, electrical inspectors, building officials, engineers, and designers.

The two-hour solar-plus-storage course will teach participants the current codes and standards for photovoltaic (PV) systems that integrate energy storage systems. The course will cover NFPA codes, the standards referenced within those codes, and Oregon-specific requirements from the OSSC and ORSC. The course is intended for code electrical contractors, solar installers, building officials, engineers, and designers to better understand the current solar-plus-storage system requirements.

You will learn how builders and developers can effectively incorporate S+S systems into their subdivision model homes to give homebuyers a hands-on experience and in-depth education. The incentives and information provided will give solar installers more opportunities to influence new construction residential developments while simplifying the purchase process and making resilient homes more accessible across Oregon.

A look at what is available and possibilities for the near future for commercial facilities:  Solar Power, Battery Energy Storage, EV Charging and Microgrids scaled for simple or more complex scenarios - load management, islanding, utility interconnection, multiple DERs, and "dare we say it" potential for future systems leveraging DC to DC connections from source to load.  It is an exciting time for contractors, suppliers and engineers!

A discussion about the current and future state of residential energy management to include how Battery Energy Storage, Solar Power, EV Charging and Smart Panels with HEMS are supplied to the market and how they work with the resident and possibly the utility or 3 party energy partners.

This session provides an overview of commercial-scale ESS design: key questions to ask early, common pitfalls, and lessons learned from Mayfield Renewables' design engineering projects. Topics covered will include fire code requirements, grid isolation methods, and equipment selection best practices.

Join Mayfield Renewables engineering consultants for a one-hour walkthrough of how to properly plan and execute a microgrid feasibility study. These systems have much to consider during the planning phase beyond a typical grid-tied PV system, learn from trainers supporting technical feasibility studies for developers and end users alike. This session will explore the evolving landscape of Domestic Content requirements and Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) compliance, and how these factors are increasingly shaping project financing and procurement decisions. As policy and incentives continue to drive demand for compliant products, understanding how Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs) are constructed—and how to influence them—has become critical for installers and developers alike.

This content is most relevant for residential installers transitioning into commercial markets, EPCs, project developers, and solar professionals responsible for procurement, finance, or project design. It is especially valuable for companies navigating new compliance requirements while trying to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
